Charnwood Forest
Charnwood Forest is Britain’s unexpected upland, layered with rich natural and historical heritage. We are home to some of the oldest animal fossils ever documented and have quarries whose stone has shaped not only our quiet villages, but also many English cities.
The landscape of Charnwood Forest is defined by crag-topped hills, wooded valleys, heathlands, and grasslands. Shaded lanes reveal quaint cottages, ancient monasteries, and drystone walls.
Mount Saint Bernard is a well-positioned base for exploring the many wonders that Charnwood has to offer – our car park is the perfect setting off-point and the Abbey is a fantastic finishing destination for any day spent exploring the beautiful Leicestershire countryside.

The community of monks at Mount Saint Bernard produce several artisan products – all of which are available at our Abbey Shop. The proceeds from these products help to sustain our community, as well as supporting our charitable endeavours.
If you would like to make a donation for the support or works of the monastery you can do so here.
The Abbey relies on the support it receives from it’s friends and benefactors, who are remembered each day during prayer.
Brewery Tours
We run regular tours of our brewing facility at Mount Saint Bernard. We’re proud of our humble home and the endeavours of the monks who oversee the creation of our unique English Trappist Ale. We are happy to welcome visitors who wish to learn more about the process of ale-making and how we craft Tynt Meadow.
Mount Saint Bernard Trappist Brewery is the only Trappist Brewery in the United Kingdom. Our tours entwine the process of ale making with the rich history behind our order and home at Mount Saint Bernard.
All proceeds raised from tour operation contribute directly to the upkeep of our community and directly support our charitable works.
The nature of our brewery tours requires us to operate them when the facility is not in active production, ensuring that we maintain a peaceful and tranquil environment for the monastic order of monks in residence.
Tours cost £30 per person and are inclusive of tastings and a complimentary bottle of Tynt Meadow.
